Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced that Nigeria will receive samples of an experimental drug to treat the deadly Ebola disease today, 14 August.
While briefing journalists in Abuja on the update of the virus, he said, “the drug, ‘Nano Silver’ is already on its way to Lagos.”
He also revealed that the drug was provided by a Nigerian scientist and has been used experimentally.
Earlier in the week, the World Health Organization said that the use of experimental drugs to treat Ebola is ethical and the Nigerian government has also authorized the use of such ‘experimental drugs’.
Meanwhile, the list of persons infected with the virus has increased to eleven as one of the doctors that treated Sawyer has reportedly tested positive for the virus.
