With just weeks to go until the Royal baby’s arrival, the expectant Duchess of Cambridge is nowhere to be seen.
Kate Middleton’s public appearance on June 15 at Trooping the Colour was said to be her last until the baby arrives- leaving royal fashion fans bereft of bump sightings.
So before the speculation over what the Royal baby will wear sets in, we look back on the last nine months to salute Kate Middleton’s pregnancy style.
The ever-tasteful Duchess of Cambridge is envied the world over for her slim figure and glossy locks, but now there’s a new asset to add to her credentials – surely hers is the best-dressed baby bump of all…
7 weeks: Nov 27, 2012 – Her first public outing since falling pregnant and it seems Kate is trying to distract guests at the Natural History Museum from the rumours with a new fringe, lurid £1,400 Mulberry dress and Jimmy Choo pumps £435
7 weeks: Nov 28, 2012 – Kate’s clearly already got ‘baby brain’, as she steps out at Cambridge University with the belt on her £980 MaxMara ‘Belli’ coat upside down. She’s also wearing a Max Mara Studio leopard print dress, £245, Aquatalia ‘Ruby Dry’ boots, £245, and Kiki McDonough white topaz and diamond earrings, £695.
8 weeks: Dec 6, 2012 – Now the secret is out, she is unable to slip out of hospital unnoticed, so we see her in a rare pair of flats, Russell & Bromley’s Pin Up boots, £295, and a classic check Diane von Furstenberg coat, £570.
10 weeks: Dec 16, 2012 – Ten weeks in and Kate’s maternity wardrobe hits a high in Alexander McQueen for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. The thigh-high slit and peplum on this £2,520 gown is perfect for hiding a barely-there bump. She wears Jimmy Choo Cosmic pumps, £435, Kiki McDonough green amethyst earrings, £2,600, and an Asprey button pendant, £2,800.
13 weeks: January 11, 2013 – As she views her official portrait unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery, the first signs of a bump are showing, which the Duchess discreetly disguises with a wide, black band layered over her recycled Whistles Sophie Rae dress, £85, and Episode black courts, £60.
19 weeks: February 19 – This £298 MaxMara dress is ideal in her fourth month of pregnancy. The V-neck is flattering on her larger bust and the wrap pulls her in at the waist which starts to widen in the second trimester.
20 weeks: March 2 – In Switzerland, Kate keeps cosy in the snow in her LK Bennett Darwin coat, £745, and £175 Mukluk snow boots. She’s added a Bill Brown cotton tote, £30, and Givenchy sunglasses, £159.
20 weeks: March 2 With her bump under wraps in a blush coat, fur stole and £245 MaxMara dress, Kate braved the cold for a Swiss wedding. She also wears a Lock & Co Betty Boop hat, £245, Emmy suede courts, £400, and clutch, £230, with Annoushka pearl and diamond earrings, £1,090.
20 weeks: March 3 – Sporting Kiki McDonough diamond earrings, £695, and clutching a £2,300 Temperley coat, Kate strides across the snowy slopes in Arosa, Switzerland
21 weeks: March 5 – During the visit to Grimsby, both the £369 Hobbs Celeste coat and Great Plains floral dress, £75, sell out in under an hour – a personal best for the ‘Kate Effect!’
22 weeks: March 15 – Kate is prudently recycling her old coats rather than buying maternity wear for Cheltenham Races. A tailor has moved the buttons for her growing figure on this Joseph coat, £790. She also wears Kiki McDonough citrine diamond earrings, £1,200, Lock & Co Betty Boop hat, £245, Stuart Weitzman Zipkin boots, £409, Emmy Natasha clutch bag, £230, and Cornelia James wool bow gloves, £52
22 weeks: March 17 – Again, full marks to the Duchess for re-using her pre-pregnancy wardrobe rather than spending before she has to. Here she wears a £1,170 Emilia Wickstead dress coat for St Patrick’s Day with a hat by Sylvia Fletcher for Lock & Co, £285
23 weeks: March 19 – Following the revelation that Kate had a shopping spree at Topshop, she visits a children’s charity in their £46 Peter Pan collar dress. She also wears a Goat ‘Redgrave’ coat, £560, and Annoushka pearl and diamond earrings, £1,090

27 weeks: April 21 – At the Scouts Parade at Windsor Castle, Kate’s bump is beginning to show – but she swathes it in a short coat, showing legs instead. It’s a shame- this £1,750 Mulberry dress coat looks clunky with its ocersized lapels and large floral buttons

30 weeks: April 29 – On her second wedding anniversary Kate is pretty in a Tara Jarmon peach coat, £340, and a frock by her own dressmaker. Visiting Naomi House Children’s Hospice, she also wears LK Bennett Sledge courts, £195, and holds their Avona clutch, £19
32 weeks: May 22 – There is still no sign of drab maternity wear as Kate steps out at a Buckingham Palace garden party in a sunshine yellow Emilia Wickstead Marella coat, £1,285, and towering £165 Russell & Bromley heels, with their 5th Ave clutch., £185 and a Jane Corbett hat, £450
33 weeks: June 4 – Kate’s body may be changing but her sense of style stays the same — she chooses an almost identical look at the 60th Anniversary of The Queen’s Coronation to that which she sported at the Diamond Jubilee. A Jenny Packham lace dress, £1,900, and £3,000 coat replaces last year’s McQueen — and she coordinates with the same £910 Jane Taylor hat
