A 25-years-old man, Shamsu Isa, has told a Kano State Senior Magistrate Court that he  impregnated his 27-year-old sister by “mistake.”

The charge sheet filed against the accused before the court said: “Incest contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code law, on  July 4, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters reported at Jakara division that on July 1, you Shamsu Isa, had sexual intercourse with your sister.”

The prosecution told the court that, Naima Isa, 27, was pregnant, adding that , she had a feeble mind.

Responding to the allegation slammed against him before the court, the accused told the court that the allegation levied against him was  true.

“All that has been read against me, is true, it was a mistake, I mistakenly pregnated her, she is my elder sister.”

The prosecutor, Corporal Ibrahim Abdulrazak, told the court that it lacked jurisdiction to preside over the matter, and applied for the matter to be adjourned,  stating that the request would enable the police conclude  their investigation into the case.

The magistrate, Ummi Sani Kurawa, delivering her ruling, ordered that Isa be remanded in prison custody, and adjourned the case to  August 4 for mention.
