Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer who made a cameo appearance in Sunday’s Emmy Awards admitted he made mistakes in his communications post while in the White House, but does not believe he ever lied on behalf of President Trump to the public, thus insisting people shouldn’t be expecting an apology.
Speaking with ABC News reporter Paula Faris, Trump’s former spokesman said, “I made mistakes, there’s no question. I think we all do.”
“There are things that I did during my time there that … I needed to go out and correct. I did that. Where there were mistakes that were made that I got something wrong, I think I’ve owned that,” he added.
When asked if he ever lied to the public, Spicer said, “I don’t think so, I have not knowingly done anything to … do that, no.”
Spicer, however, refused to issue “some blanket apology” for mistakes he made, neither did he specify which comments he was referring to from his time of speaking for the president.
He claimed President Trump was “very supportive” of his appearance. He thought I did a great job. … It was very reassuring,” Spicer said, referring to his phone call with Trump after his speculated mockery of the President’s inauguration January attendance during the Emmy Awards.
