Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) has released the theme song for their #DigitalJobs project “Get Some Money”, featuring three top African hip-hop artists—Ice Prince, Phyno and Olamide.
PIN is a social enterprise that connects young Nigerians with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) opportunities in order to empower them. Their latest initiative, #DigitalJobs, seeks to connect 50,000 young Nigerians with online employment opportunities to contribute to the reduction of unemployment levels in the country.
Digital jobs – defined as short-term or permanent positions that use information technology to deliver a product or service – are in the formal sector and therefore provide higher wages and long-term job stability, which are two key mechanisms that enable people to work their way out of poverty, according to a Rockefeller Foundation-supported report by Dalberg.
Through educating and enlightening young job-seekers on the legitimate, financially viable opportunities that allow them to utilise their skills positively, PIN’s #DigitalJobs campaign is aiming to act as conduit to opportunities for young people in the digital jobs market.
Lending their star power to support the goals of PIN, Ice Prince, Phyno and Olamide created “Get Some Money” to propagate a positive message and connect their youthful music to a good cause. The track was produced by Gospel on the Beat and mix and mastered by Lamp House Studios.
“The beauty of digital jobs is that they are flexible; people can work from anywhere using any internet-enabled device i.e. tablets, smartphones, or computers,” said Gbenga Sesan, the PIN executive director. “This initiative is a call to every young Nigerian with skills, an electronic device and drive.”
