One of the two terror suspects being held for the murder of a serving soldier in the street in Woolwich, southeast London has been named as Michael Adeboloja.

Adeboloja is a 28-year-old British-born citizen of Nigerian descent who became obsessed with Islamic extremism as a schoolboy living in London. He attended Greenwich University.

Students who knew him took to Facebook and Twitter with reports claiming he was born in Lambeth, grew up in East London. There are still members of his family living in the area.

Sky’s crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: “We believe it is his father’s house that is being searched by Lincolnshire Police on behalf of counter-terrorism command at Scotland Yard.”

According to reports, relatives of the dead soldier are believed to have been informed and his identity is expected to be released later today.

  1. awon omo ale jatijati……….hes not a nigerian..hes jst a bastard.

  2. A person “butchers” another human being and the media spends more time discussing his nationality. Is it his nationality that led him to do what he did? Are Nigerians or English men the only cold-blooded killers in the world?
The fact remains that someone has killed another person…”WE DEMAND JUSTICE”!!!

  3. Britain should take responsibility,he’s clearly one of their own. Having a Nigerian ancestry does not make him a Nigerian. However, as a people we condemn his action because it is an open bestiality, and it has no place in any society,

  4. Lets separate this sentimental journalism of saying they are Nigerians. If the British press knew they are British born. Let that society deal with that level of decadence and we deal with ours back home.

    1. I wonder why when it is a case of crime, they look at the origin. How many of the British born Nigerian medalist in Britain were called Nigerian. Why do they like to associate crime to Nigeria all the time. It British problem. They should deal with it themselves.

    2. What a crass headline! How is a Nigerian BORN AND BRED in Britain? Is Obama a Kenyan?

    3. Wow!!! i thought that only in my region (Northern Nigeria) that one can see this kind of despicable act,so this barbaric act knows no boundary.God unto u we summit our life.

  5. He is british and not a Nigerian, his background can be Nigerian but that does not mean that he is a Nigerian. He should bear his shame alone.

  6. please clear the air about the citizenship of that terrorist. according to dailymail.co.uk it reads “…British citizen” not not even a Nigerian born British citizen. take not.

  7. He is not a Nigerian, but british. He is only of Nigerian parents.
