Kano

Kano has been a surprise hot bed for the transmission of the novel coronavirus. Based on the announcement from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the state took over Lagos with 80 new cases confirmed, and ushering a wave of unrest and anxiety. Kano has been in total lockdown upon the strange, massive deaths of residents in rural communities were recorded, which health experts attributed to COVID-19.

With Lagos and Abuja issuing an ease in lockdown and putting in place dusk to dawn curfews, governor Ganduje of Kano is asking the federal government to lift the lockdown in the state which has been ongoing for two weeks. His reasons are that residents are running out of food and need to restock, especially in this fasting period.

As a remedy, the government can increase palliative measures to meet the needs of people in the state because easing the lockdown would only lead to a staggering spike in coronavirus transmission.
