Barcelona and Uruguyan forward Luis Suarez says he has gotten professional help following the four-month ban he received for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
Suarez made his début appearance for the Catalans in the 6-0 thrashing of Mexican side Club Leon, in a friendly match on Monday, 18 August.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport threw out his appeal against the ban last week, which makes him ineligible to feature in a competitive game for Barcelona until late October.
Speaking at his first press conference as a Barcelona player on Tuesday, 19 August, Suarez said, “The suspension is what it is and I have to accept it, it is a personal matter but I have worked with the adequate professionals.”
“I have tried to forget this game and this situation as well. It is a difficult moment for me and I would say to all the fans to not worry because I am not doing that any more.”
He also gushed at the fact that he fulfilled his dream of joining the Spanish team at the summer for £65 million.
He said, “There were options from other teams, but when the option of Barca became clear I didn’t have any doubts because it was a dream for me. I still can’t believe it. It is something I have dreamed about but I never imagined such a beautiful dream would come true.”
