As the present government nears the expiration of its tenure, several key figures of the last 6 years have been giving parting gifts.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Senator Bala Mohammed disclosed that some eminent Nigerians and other Africans have been honoured by naming major streets in Asokoro Extension, Guzape, Wupa, Wuye and Maitama Extension districts as well as expressways and roads after them.
The yet to be commissioned Inner Southern Expressway was named after President Jonathan, while major roads in Wuye district were named after Vice President Namadi Sambo, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu and Bala Mohammed himself.
The longest Wuye district Boulevard express road measuring 1,730 metres was named after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Other prominent political and business leaders who had streets named after them are former Senate President, late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, former Speaker of House of Representatives and Katsina State Governor-elect, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Dahiru Musdapha, business moguls, Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote.
