Famed CNN anchor Richard Quest was in Nigeria last week on a voyage of discovery, learning about local culture and how it impacts on people doing business in Africa’s largest economy.
Not surprisingly, he turned to Mo Abudu, founder and CEO of EbonyLife TV and Executive Producer of The Wedding Party, the most successful film in Nollywood history. As one of the leading purveyors of Nigerian culture, Mo was the ideal person to guide Richard through the maze of contradictions that often confound newcomers.
During his trip to Lagos, Mo took Richard for a tasty lunch at NOK by Alara in Victoria Island and they went for a jog along the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, where Richard learned the nuances of Nigerian attitudes to business and that elusive ‘Nigerian factor’ that keeps people proud, successful and resilient.
The whole conversation will be shown on CNN’s Quest Means Business on DStv channel 401 – dates to be announced soon.
