Nigerian Army makes progress in Sambisa forest, destroys 6 buffer camps [DETAILS]

by James Sambo

In the ongoing operation to flush out Boko Haram insurgents from Sambisa forest, Special Forces of the Nigerian army, in collaboration with the attack aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force, have reportedly made significant progress.

The troops engaged the terrorists with newly acquired ammunitions. They employed the use of the latest T 55 armoured personnel carriers, heavy artillery Howitzer guns, while the air force provided support and attacked the militants from the air.

During the course of the operation, the troops were said to have destroyed six buffer camps in the forest.

Some heavily armed insurgents were positioned to stop the Nigerian military from gaining entry into the forest, but were gunned down, with several of them dying in the attack.

The over 200 Chibok girls abducted from their school in April 2014, are believed to be held in captivity in Sambisa forest, however, with the increasing rate of female suicide bombers, it becomes difficult to ascertain if some of the girls haven’t been conscripted, and/if all the girls are still alive.
