According to the Nigerian Army, over 200 Boko Haram insurgents have put down their arms and surrendered after losing the town of Banki to the military on Thursday.
Banki is a strategic town, owing to its status as the center of international trade between Nigeria, Cameroun and other countries of the Central Africa.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, revealed that the insurgents surrendered to the troops in Banki on Sallah day.
“Over 200 Boko Haram terrorists have just surrendered to our troops in Banki.”
I can tell you that the figure is more than 200 and this is quite unprecedented.
This is in line with what we have been saying that the Boko Haram terrorists have run out of ammunition and other logistic supplies.”
