To solve the internal problems in the  ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) once and for all, President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur have met privately at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, new reports say.

The two were not the only ones trashing out issues to move the party forward, some of the members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) were also at the Presidential Villa.

According to reports, the meeting, which discussed the decision of the NWC that suspended the activities of the members of the National Mini Convention Committee, headed by Prof. Jerry Gana, was held in Abuja Tuesday.

The Punch reports:

Some of the members of the NWC took the decision to abort the party’s convention, which had been slated for August 31.

The outcome of the meeting held with Tukur by the President was not known, but sources said Tukur canvassed holding meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party, where some naughty issues would be discussed.

Investigations by our correspondent showed that some of these issues included that the mandate given the Gana committee had elapsed and that there was the need to go back to NEC asking for a fresh mandate.
