On Tuesday, 12 August, the Edo State Police Command arrested a 19-year-old boy in Iguosa community, Ovia North East local government area of Edo State, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a dog.
The teenager, who was identified as Osagiator, reportedly took the dog to an uncompleted building and had carnal knowledge of it. The suspect, who resides in Uselu community in Benin, said he did not know what prompted him to carry out the act.
He claimed that the dog followed him as he walked along the street in the community after which he took the animal to an uncompleted building where he had sexual intercourse with the animal.
He said, “I was walking along the street. I saw a dog following me and I carried it like a baby and, thereafter, I decided to take it to an uncompleted building where I did what I did to it. It was there that one man came into the building and arrested me.”
A resident in the community, George Ogbonmwan, narrated how the Osagiator was caught, saying that he had seen the boy “romancing” the dog and thought he wanted to steal it, which prompted him to call the attention of the owner.
Ogbonmwan said that when he arrived with the owner of the dog at the uncompleted building, to his chagrin, he saw the suspect having sexual intercourse with the dog.
“When I saw the way the young man carried the dog like a baby, I decided to tell the owner. I advised him to go towards the uncompleted building but as he went to the building, he caught the boy sleeping with his dog,” he said.
Meanwhile, the owner of the dog, Garuba Samari, has disowned the animal, saying he doesn’t want anything to do it. “The dog has to follow him. I have nothing to do with the dog again,” he said.
