The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, visited Lagos today, Sunday, January 25, to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan, ahead of the upcoming polls.
Jonathan met with Kerry at the State House, Marina, Lagos, where talks bordering on the general elections were discussed.
During the meeting, the Secretary of state, expressed the commitment of the international community in working with Nigeria, to have a peaceful elections.
He also stated that the United States will continue to give the Nigerian military adequate support, as it prosecutes the war against Boko Haram insurgents.
Furthermore, Kerry said that the 2015 election will be an “opportunity for Nigeria to put an indelible stamp on what Africa wants and deserves”, while emphasizing on the importance of ensuring the upcoming elections are peaceful, non-violent, and credible.
