A terrible fire has claimed the life of a two-month old baby and her parents on Wednesday night when their residence in Kajola community, Osun State, was burnt down in what is believed to be an accident.
The fire was said to have occurred at about midnight and everything both life and property were consumed by the flames.
A family member spared from death was the daughter of the deceased couple who had left the house a night before to attend a church vigil.
According to reports, she cried inconsolably when she returned home in the morning to see the bodies of her parents and sibling.

There were suspicions that the fire was caused by a power surge but the Public Relations Officer, Ife-Ile PHCN Business District, Akin Otaraki, said: “The community and some others had been in darkness since Saturday, July 20, 2013 due to a yet-to-be identified fault. The fact on the ground is that the inferno could not have been caused by a power surge because there has not been power supply to the affected communities, including Kajola.”
Sources claim, the Deputy Governor of Osun state, Titi Laoye-Tomori, who visited the scene gave an undisclosed amount of money to the family.
“The government will henceforth be responsible for the upkeep of the surviving children,” she reportedly said.
