After being ‘postponed indefinitely‘, the trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja has been scheduled to resume on June 7.
Saraki is being prosecuted by the Federal government on 16 counts, including false and anticipatory asset declaration while serving as Kwara state governor.
The Head, Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Al-hassan, in a statement on Thursday, confirmed that the tribunal had granted Jacobs’ request by fixing June 7 for the trial to resume and to continue on June 8 and 9.
Al-hassan said this confirmed that the reports in some sections of the media that the trial had been adjourned indefinitely was false.
“This got to show that the initial impression that the tribunal had adjourned indefinitely was false, as publicised yesterday (Wednesday) by some media organisations,” Al-hassan said.
