Arsenal striker, Yaya Sanogo netted a first-half hat-trick, to help his team defeat Benfica 5-1 in their first game of the annual pre-season Emirates Cup.

The 21-year-old French forward added a fourth goal to his tally early in the second half, to complete the comprehensive defeat of the Portuguese champions.

Joel Campbell also got his name on the score-sheet with a precise volley in the 40th minute, after latching on to a cross from Hector Bellerin.

Benfica managed to reduce the arrears in the 62nd minute when Gaitan headed home but it was a mere consolation.

New signing, Alexis Sanchez was brought in as late substitute at the 72nd minute and he managed to display flashes of brilliance in his cameo appearance.
