The Chronicles of Tunde Ednut; punished at the ‘mark’ | The #YNaijaCover

Celebrity blogger, Tunde Ednut, has been suspended by Instagram for the second time in the space of a month. He was initially suspended by Instagram late December, after his account of over 2.6 million followers was reported as ‘Spam’ by another user.

Hours after one of social media’s most historic ‘comebacks’ however; amassing five hundred thousand followers within 4 hours; his account has again been taken down. Importantly, this is happening barely 3 days after he returned to the platform, and just minutes after reaching the 1m follower mark.

While it might seem like Tunde is a victim of a season of shutdowns following the suspension of U.S. President Donald Trump by many social media platforms, it is not unlikely that he is a victim of his persistent approach to issues.

The blogger’s comeback showed no sign that he understood his likely offence of stepping on too many toes leading to tons of people reporting his account. For one, his blogging style didn’t change and to add salt to injury, he used his celebrity colleagues’ influence to quickly garner followers based on his reputation as an Instagram ‘king.’ The two acts however, are like putting a target on his back and walking into the thick of battle. There is also what has been described by many as ‘content rights ownership issue.’

Mark Zuckerberg’ never misses a mark on any good day and Instagram’s algorithm, like the famous village people, is set up to lay in wait patiently as the proverbial patient dog. And just when the bone like Tunde Ednut’s million new followers is fattest, it strikes!

It may be time for some quick reflection.
