The festive season is here, and one of Lagosians’ favourite destinations is the beach.
If by any chance, you’re going to the beach for the first time, these are the 15 types of people you’ll find in a Lagos beach:
- The Celestial Squad: You may see them dancing, but they are not there for fun and games.
Hallelujah Somebody? - The SK Strikers: You see this on their shoulders
But in reality, this is what they are carrying.
- Family: They like to arrive before afternoon so they can leave early, before the spirits start to come out and ‘spoil’ their children.
Their father, mother, and uncles are behind the camera, on guard. - Marine spirits: When you see them, you just start thinking of your account balance. That’s Yemoja, Queen of the marine spirits, messing with your head.
- Photographer: ‘Fine geh comman snap pishure’.
- Horsemen: They are not Sentinels. They are Hustlenels. 500 naira per ride
- Thirst mongers. YOPO (You Only Press Once ).
- Thirst traps: Scroll back to number 4
- Lovey-doveys. Trying to make everyone else feel bad and all.
- The Selfie Squad: Right.
- The swimmers. More like snappers.
- Party Rider. The life of the night.
- Hustlers: They sell just about everything.
- Girl Squad: They like to pay for their stuff. Which is awesome.
- Poachers. We don’t know what they look like, what we do know is that when they pass, something goes missing.
So what type of person will you be this season?
