The Economist once said that Nigerian English is “prone to verbal flourishes“. And nowhere is this so apparent as in our speeches and writeups- whether emails, proposals and CVs.
These “verbal flourishes” might add flavour to a speech, but for official correspondence, it doesn’t help any.
