Nigerians are fond of pointing to “our leaders” as the basis of all our country’s woes, but isn’t that passing the buck? These “our leaders” do not fall from the sky; they emerge from among us. So “we the people” bear the blame for the crop of leaders we have.
Furthermore, “our leaders”, who once were followers like us or “the masses”, like we usually say, bear the same DNA imprints as the rest of us. In other words, rather than look out for the good of the collective, “we the people”put our pockets and stomachs first.
This explains why Africa is backwards; why Nigeria is still not the giant of Africa.
