A member of the House of Representatives, Shamsudeen Abdullahi, has dismissed claims that former Head of State, Maj. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, has endorsed Mallam Nasir El-rufai, for the governorship of Kaduna State.
Abdullahi, who is also aspiring for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress for Kaduna State, said this in Abuja, on Monday.
He was at the APC national secretariat to submit his nomination form for the contest.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) may hold an emergency meeting with its elders and members of the National Working Committee on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to a reliable source, the meeting may discuss a possible adjournment of the date for the party’s National Convention scheduled for Dec. 8.
The source says the meeting will involve top notchers of the party.
The Senate on Monday rescheduled its resumption of plenary from Tuesday to Wednesday.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Clerk to the Senate, Mr Benedict Efeturi, in Abuja.
The clerk requested senators to resume sitting in plenary on Wednesday by 10 a.m.
A former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has expressed outrage over the bombing of the Government Technical Science College, Potiskum by a yet to identify suicide bomber dressed as a student of the school.
The former Vice President said in a statement by his media office in Abuja on Monday, that the latest bombing which needlessly claimed the lives of 47 young and promising Nigerian school children is one too many and once again underscores the need for the government at all levels including our elders and opinion leaders to find a permanent solution to the problem of insurgency which has ravaged our country for the past five years.
Atiku noted that the tragic incident in Potiskum was not the first time in Yobe State and indeed in the troubled North-East region that innocent young people were subjected to violence and untimely death for the simple reason that they wanted education.
The Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, on Monday approved the appointment of Alhaji Nasiru Yunusa as his new Chief of Staff.
Yunusa, a Pharmacist, was until his appointment the Special Adviser to the Governor on Millennium Development Goals. He replaced the former Chief of Staff, Mr. Joseph Daniel who has been redeployed as Special Adviser to the Governor on International Relations, Research and Development.
Wada in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, also appointed Haliru Abdul as Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals to replace Yunusa.
