A Magistrate Court in Makurdi, Benue State, has remanded nine brothers in Makurdi Security Prisons for killing their elder brother, Mr. Vincent Igwe, for alleged witchcraft. The incident happened in Enyitse-Ulaye community in Ado Local Government Area of the state.
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the remanded persons had, in December 2012, accused their elder brother of involvement in witchcraft, with plans to kill all of them, hence they killed him.
It was gathered that the widow of the deceased, Mrs. Felicia Igwe, had on December 26, 2012, reported to the police in Igumale, Ado, that the younger brothers to her husband, led by Peter and Patrick Iberi, allegedly connived and killed her husband.
Mrs. Igwe narrated that the suspected killers had proceeded to the house of one Chukwuma Ebere after the crime and also attempted to kill him, saying he was lucky to have only sustained a severe injury and admitted in a nearby hospital.
