The Kogi State Police Command, yesterday, announced the arrest of two members of a robbery gang who specialize in robbing banks. The two men arrested are part of a six man robbery gang from Imo State who were in Lokoja for a robbery operation.

According to the state commissioner of police, Muhammed Musa Katsina, two of the robbers were killed, two were caught by the police, while two others escaped arrest.

He said the robbers were positioned to operate at a Lokoja new generation bank just before midday but they were prevented from carrying out the operation by men of the police ‘ambush squad’ who were deployed to the scene after getting a tip-off.

Reports say a gun-battle ensued and the robbers later ran into the bush in a bid to escape where two were arrested and two others were gunned down.

Katsina said the police recorded no casualties during the gun battle, saying that they are on the trail of the two escaped suspects and their accomplice.

He identified the apprehended robbery suspects as Kenneth Nnorom and Vincent Madu.

Items recovered from the robbery gangs are pistols, rounds of cartridge and one power bike.
