During a reecent visit to Maiduguri, former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, got an embarrassing reception from residents of the state.
Sherrif, who is alleged to be a sponsor of Boko Haram, was mocked by a surging crowd on the streets.
The crowd chanted: “Boko Haram, bana banda barawo”, which means “Boko Haram, no to thieves this time around.”
There were also shouts of “Bamuso Boko Haram”, meaning “We don’t want Boko Haram.”
