Craig David praises Tiwa Savage for representing Afrobeats well

British R&B artist Craig David recently commended Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage for her impact on the Afrobeats genre.
The 43-year-old, award-winning musician hailed Tiwa, 45, as a “reliable and gifted powerhouse” in the music scene. Speaking on the Capital Xtra podcast, David shared insights about working with Savage on their joint track ‘Commitment.’
He revealed that the song was 70% finished when he consulted his team about a potential collaborator, and they all pointed to Savage.
“I’ve admired Tiwa for years,” he said.
“She’s been a steady force in Afrobeats, not only consistent but also an incredible singer.”
During a studio session, a team member suggested her name, and David immediately agreed it was a brilliant choice. Unsure if she’d respond, they contacted her, and to their delight, she replied warmly.
“She told us, ‘Even if the track wasn’t that strong, I’d still have joined in,’” David recounted.
“That’s when I felt the genuine connection. She added her magic to the song, and suddenly we had this fantastic blend of our styles.”
Omoni Oboli threatens Ghanaian stations playing her movies without a licence

Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli has voiced her anger over Ghanaian TV stations allegedly broadcasting her films without proper licensing.
Taking to social media, she threatened to pursue action against the stations, accusing them of “shamelessly violating my intellectual property rights.”
She also criticised the Ghana National Film Authority for not cracking down on such unauthorized use. Oboli challenged the agency’s ability to effectively oversee the industry and defend creators’ rights like hers.
The 46-year-old stressed the hard work and sleepless nights invested in her films.
“I adore my Ghanaian friends and colleagues, I really do, but those TV stations in Ghana!” she posted.
“I’m coming for you! Airing my movies without permission? If they don’t punish one of you, you won’t stop! Be warned—I’m targeting all of you!”
