The Nigerian Police has began the search for former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, who has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
A bench warrant has twice, been issued for his arrest by a Federal High Court, over allegation of diversion of public funds.
Tompolo is expected to answer a 40-count charge against him and a former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi, for alleged diversion of N45.9bn contracts fund.
The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Friday, revealed that a manhunt has began to arrest Tompolo.
Arase revealed this during a tour of the Ekiti State Police Command while answering questions from journalists.
He said: “We are looking for Tompolo and my men are on his trail. We will soon arrest him.”
The Police boss also disclosed that the Force was yet to receive any warrant of arrest against a former Ekiti State Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Tope Aluko.
Aluko had on national television, confessed to have participated in the rigging of the June 2014 Ekiti state governorship election, that brought Ayo Fayose into power.
