Dbanj, H.I.D Awolowo NOT dead

On a day when the Nigerian airwaves was already awash with sad news—from Bauchi where over a dozen Nigerians died in a bomb blast, to Lagos where a Dana aircraft arriving from Abuja crashed, killing all 156 passengers on board—rumours of more bad tidings began to circulate again.

This time, the rumour was that one of Nigeria’s top music talents Dbanj was shot dead in London. The already hyper social media circuit was worked into heightened frenzy. Thankfully, the Kokomaster himself tweeted not long afterwards and calmed his teeming fans.

“Pls ignore the nonsense rumours. I’m very much alive and well! Thanks be to God! Thank you 4 all ur concern. #PrayForNigeria#DanaCrash #RIP,” he tweeted.

Shortly afterwards, the rumour mill spun again and pointed at Mama H.I.D Awolowo, the widow of the late premier of the Western region, Obafemi Awolowo. She also was reported to have passed on. Again, close family sources denied the rumours and assured Nigerians that the matriarch of the Awolowo clan was alive and well.
