Lara Kudayisi-Emeralds: The 5 things that can make your relationship fail

With all due respect to the Legend “Diana Ross”, Love isn’t all that matters according to her song. It is easier to conclude that Love is all that matters when you are not in a relationship or marriage yet. Your story would probably change when you are in love but you are confronted with a lot of other things.
Love isn’t all that matters to get into a relationship or to make it work. There are several other things that matter in a relationship or marriage.

1)VALUES: According to research,a high percentage of divorce is caused by clash of values. When you and your partner have different values in life, it’s going to affect you greatly. Make sure your top 5 values are similar and your relationship has some levels of guarantee.

2) FAMILY: In Africa, the family you are marrying into is very critical. If both of you are in love but your families don’t agree, your spouse’s family does all to frustrate you or you just don’t dig the way they do things in your partner’s family, then your relationship stands little or no chance at all.

3)VISION: If your vision in life doesn’t complement each other or they are very far apart, there would likely be trouble. This is not to say you must have the same vision but you must be able to fit in each other’s life long goals. If you can’t see yourself as a musician’s wife, there is no need dating a wanabe musician even if you are head over heels.
4) BELIEF SYSTEM: It is very hard to work out a relationship if what both of you believe in is very different. Believing in same things would promote Unity and a great Bond in that family. Some have been able to work it out but the ratio is around 90 to 5, so this is time to step out of the love bubble and think deeply.

5) MONEY: No matter how in love you are, you need to check out that person’ s attitude to money and how easy it is for them to make it, man or woman. Plenty Marital Problems are caused by lack of money and attitude towards it. I didn’t say go after Money but I’ll say Marry someone whose plan would get money in it on the long run because money is very important in a marriage.
