THe United States on Wednesday said it has donated about $92m to people affected by Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East and the Lake Chad Basin region.
In a statement on Wednesday, the US said it has donated a total of $291m to people affected by Boko Haram in 2016.
“This new funding to United Nations and Non-Governmental Organisation partners will help tens of thousands of people receive critically needed humanitarian assistance, including food, water, shelter, and services to address acute hygiene, protection and nutritional needs,” the statement added.
The statement said the UN estimates that $1bn will be needed to meet the humanitarian needs of people in 2017.
It urged other people to donate towards persons who have been affected by the insurgency.
