President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to attend the flag off of the Clean-Up exercise of Ogoni land on Thursday, June 2, however, that plan has been adjusted.
For unspecified reasons, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been named as the representative of the President at the ceremony.
Sahara Reporters had earlier reported that the President suspended his attendance of the flag off ceremony as a result of assassination threats from the Niger Delta Avengers.
The report suggested that the event, which takes place at Bodo, Gokana LG, Rivers State, may have been completely cancelled.
Subsequently, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina revealed to the online news platform that the ceremony was “not cancelled.”
This was also confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media.
