Yetunde Shorters: Lessons from a 35-year-old newly wedded entrepreneur (30 Days of Gratitude)

2015 has been a transformative year. I have learned things so simple I never imagined they would affect the way I see the world and others.

I have learned that plans can change no matter how prepared you are. Go with the flow because even that wrench in your plan is part of the plan, you’re just not aware of. I have learned that people are more engaged when they know what is in it for them. So think of how you can serve their needs and they will tune in to whatever you have to say.

I have learned that what you focus on builds and gets power, good or bad, so be intentional about being in control of what your mind chooses to focus on.

I have learned that being a couple requires you to be vulnerable and open to growing into a better version of yourself and helping your mate do the same.

I have learned that going to bed angry is a recipe for hurt to take root in a marriage. Choose to resolve it; as long as it takes the night before, it’s worth it.

I have learned that being loved is a privilege that so many of us take for granted. Start appreciating those whose share their lives with you: friends, family, even stranger.

I have learned that I have to be responsible for the energy I bring to others. I have the power to influence energy. I want to use it for a better more fulfilling energy to anyone around me.

I have learned that social media is powerful and the more you learn to use it to serve the greater good, the more power you can build with it.

I have learned that money is not the root of all evil, money simply exposes who you really are.

I have learned that more good people need to have money so they can do more good. So good people, get that money so you can help more people.

I have learned that to love people as God loves us is hard and I give props to God for loving us in spite of all our bulox. Grace is awesome and I want to appreciate it more.

I have learned that people will try to put you in a box that is comfortable for how they want to perceive you; it is none of your business. Do you, be true, be your best self.

I have learned that having multiple passions and talents is a blessing that I should appreciate more.

I have learned that family is love extended to those we feel connected to.

I have learned that emotions are necessary to run a people conscious business and there is room for compassion in “professional” environments.

I have learned that if you keep doing your best, those that matter will find you or you will attract them and VIP’s will sometimes work behind the scenes for you, be thankful and do your best anyway.

Someone is ALWAYS watching.

I have learned that emotional growth is essential to living on purpose and many challenges and joys are designed to help you grow emotionally for what God needs you to do.

This year had been full of lessons and blessings. In 2016, I am looking forward to partnerships that lift the consciousness of women and our power in this world, how to activate it and use it to build power that can influence and create visions that changes lives.

I am looking forward to prosperity and continued good health.  Above all I am looking forward to loving and living in God’s purpose for my life.

I wish you a fulfilling new year ahead.
