6-year-old takes the pulpit at House on The Rock Abuja’s Children’s day sermon (WATCH)

Every year, 27th of May is set aside to celebrate Nigerian children. On this day, children are given special treats and outings, brands channel their communications to communicate their affiliation with children or in the least, their parents. When it falls on a weekday, schools sponsor their pupils to engage in military parades, excursions or external competitions.

When it falls on a weekend, it is celebrated in churches with song presentations, dancing, choreography, memory verses, parties and of course, the sermon where children are encouraged to be obedient to their parents. And whilst that is a good way of celebrating such epoch-making event in the church community, House on the Rock Abuja took it a notch higher by giving 6-year-old Timilehin Falana the opportunity to take the sermon for the day.

Preaching from Romans 5:17, Timilehin made a strong case for the fullness of the life of a Christian that comes from knowing your identity whilst preaching on the topic: “Living your inheritance in Christ”. Not forgetting the fact that he preached the 12-minute sermon and quoted bible scriptures without using a prompter or his Bible.

Obviously, we can’t make conclusions from this one video but we can make assumptions. We can assume that Pastor House on the Rock is hugely invested in not just being what it is but raising several other enlightened church leaders around the globe.

Also, we hope it doesn’t end here. We believe this should not be a one-time event but one that the church consciously engages in to prepare the younger ones towards church ministerial activities.

We hope that every leader in the church community is paying close attention and learning from this subtle nudge from House on the Rock Abuja.
