82-year-old Oriole Adegoke was found suspended from the roof of his room ceiling with a rope latched onto his neck in a suicide manner in Ondo state.

He was discovered by his daughter, Taye Adegoke, and the neighbours who got wind of the news immediately began mourning the “easy-going gentleman”.

So what could have made an old man nearing the grave hasten his own death?

Some say he may have ended his own life as a result of an illness he contracted from his daughter and had spent large sums of money trying to cure.

Others, including the police, came up with conspiracy theories such as – if he indeed committed suicide or if it was a staged murder.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Enuowa Police Division, Mr. Kunle Omisakin, confirmed the incident, saying, “Investigation has started to unravel the actual cause of the death.”
