Former governor, Theodore Orji, was reportedly booed last Friday at Mbutuoma, in Abia state, during the burial of the late husband of Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Rowland Nwaogu.
It was reported that Orji and his wife, Odochi, were jeered by funeral attendees shortly after entering the venue of the event.
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party tried to save Orji of the embarrassment by chanting songs loudly, in order to drown the pitch of the jeers.
A civil servant was quoted to have said that the people did not get a chance to fully express how they felt about Orji, due to the nature of the ceremony.
“It was because we were mourning that made us not to express how we felt about the former governor. As you came into Abia, I know you must have passed through at least our sister state of Imo and then, you will be able to know why we feel the way we do for this man.
“I am a local government worker; we were owed four months salary before the former governor left office and you want me to be happy with such person? Never,” he said.
