For all the loud outcries that former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, had made on the internet; raging against the Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, one would never have thought he wouldn’t show up to the court proceeding against the tech giant.
Garba had accused Dorsey of endorsing and supporting the recent #EndSARS protest in Nigeria and had resulted in filing a $1bn lawsuit against him. In response, Lawyer Tope Akinyode had offered to join the suit and defend Twitter.
However, in an interesting turn of events both Garba and his lawyer didn’t show up in court when the time came around, forcing the judge to adjourn the case.
It makes one wonder why Garba, Founder of social interaction app, Crowwe, had chickened out? Did he realise his case had no meat? Was he largely too unbothered to show up? Or was it just a stint because Garba was jealous of Dorsey’s tech success that he hadn’t yet attained? These were the questions on everyone’s minds.
Subsequently, Garba responded saying he and his lawyers weren’t duly informed of the date of the court case, hence the adjournment but that he is sure of a victory.
The court has now adjourned the case to the 22nd April 2021. Whether or not Adamu would be there this time is something we’d have to wait and see.
