‘APC members jittery over Buhari’s anti-corruption war’ – Nasarawa governor

Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s strong stance against corruption has put members of the ruling All Progressive Congress in a state of fear.

Al-Makura noted that the corruption fight has neither limit nor political affiliation while adding that eventually, all corrupt public officials will face the law.

While speaking over the weekend, the governor said: “Anti-corruption posture of Mr. President knows no bounds so even people within the APC are jittery because in the event that any of them soils his hands he would have himself to blame.”

“And I can tell you with every authority that Mr. President will not blink an eye even if the most ‘APC Person’ is involved; let him go and sort himself out with the law.”

On whether the anti-corruption war was partisan, the governor stated that: “For anybody to consider or insinuate the fact that anti-corruption war by Mr. President is one sided I think that comment is so subjective and calculated attempt to sabotage that good intention of Mr. President.”

“So also the issue of £2.5 billion arms funds, his posture and concern is not about the individual but about the money that has been expended or misused and once that money is trailed, whoever finds himself within the net of that activity will have to explain himself.”

“The fight against corruption has begun and it would not stop here, it would go to every limit to ensure that this country is sanitised because we believe that there had been so much corruption in this country that if we don’t take it holistically and destroy it, corruption will destroy Nigeria.”
