Residents of Asaba on Wednesday celebrated the release of former Delta State governor, James Ibori from a prison in the United Kingdom.
Reports of his release for money laundering and other offences was known early Wednesday.
Asaba youths marched on the streets singing Asaba-Ibo songs along Nnebisi Road, Summit Junction, Okpanam Road and Anwai Road.
The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Peter Mrakpor said his release was a welcome development.
“I’m particularly grateful and hope that the Federal Government would grant him state pardon,” Egodike said.
Palmer Osakwe, a civil servant said, “Ibori is a great man; he developed the state. Indeed, we want him pardoned by the Federal Government.”
