A group called Izumunna has declared that it would hold President Buhari responsible if any harm comes to deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, who survived an assassination attempt in Abuja, on Tuesday, November 17.
The group said on Thursday, that the assassination attempt is part of a conspiracy to eliminate all Igbo-speaking nationals from the Buhari Government.
The Igbo group revealed this in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday, November 18 in Jos.
The statement was signed by the group’s President, Elvis Chukwu and its secretary, Ugo Ihekuna.
“We want to make it clear that we will hold the present administration liable if anything untoward happens to this great Igbo son.”
“Izumunna condemns this barbaric act, which is another indication that Ndigbo are not getting their fair share from the Buhari administration.”
“The Deputy senate President is the only highest ranking Igbo man in the present administration and was about to be eliminated. An attack on Ekweremadu is an attack on Ndigbo both at home and in the Diaspora.”
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the IGP to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring those responsible for this act to books. We make bold to say that if any action is not taken, let nobody hold us responsible for the possible backlash.”
“Ndigbo are yet to come out with the stark reality that they are being relegated in the scheme of things, especially with the recent allocation of ministerial positions.”
