An unidentified man, believed to be a cable vandal has been found dead near a transformer sub-station in Katsina.

On Wednesday, 24 September, the lifeless body of the middle aged man was found near a transformer at a popular open air theatre along Jibiya road, in Katsina.

Workers of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau reportedly found the lifeless body of the deceased when they resumed for work in the morning. The discovery prompted them to alert men of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who were on patrol around the area.

The head of anti vandal unit of the Command, CSC Bishir Dansada Kurfi, addressed reporters at the scene of the incident, stating that officers on patrol were alerted by the officials of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau, after which they visited the scene.

Kurfi said initial findings revealed that the deceased was attempting to vandalise cables and may have died while trying to disconnect cables from the transformer.
