Defence Headquarters’ website survives hacking

by Kolapo Olapoju

The website of the Defence Headquarters, (defenceinfo.mil.ng), has been restored, after being hacked in the wee hours of Friday, January 23.

When the hacking occurred, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, had released a statement revealing that the blog site was hacked by a certain “Ima Sadiq”.

He said: “Preliminary investigation shows that the attack was from the end of the site’s host. One Ima Sadiq who posed as the hacker has been knocked off and normal activities on the channel has resumed.”

“Apparently, the blog site was targeted because of its role as a major channel for disseminating information on military and security activities in the nation’s counter-terrorism campaign.”

Subsequently, after it was restored, Olukolade said: “The site was defaced at the front end. However, the hackers could not infiltrate the database of the site.”
