One of us had an art teacher once that said there is no good or bad film – only films that you like or don’t like. And the reviews of the plenty-anticipated ’76 that we see from the Toronto International Film Festival more than prove the point.
There are clearly as many conclusions as there are reviews.
This one says the movie is a let down, stumbling and mumbling and falling flat.
This one says they tried, but only small sha (we swear there is almost nothing worse than oyinbo people calling your film ‘a worthy effort’).
And then this one says, glory halleluyah, Nollywood has finally arrived! (Even though it must depress you that they remind viewers to forgive it because it is a ‘Nollywood’ film).
Political drama ’76’ mostly successful in introducing Nollywood cinema to a Western audience
Confusion Na Wa.
Maybe you wait for us to watch it first when it arrives Nigeria and tell you what to think?
