Here’s your first look at Accelerate TV’s “Corper Shun”

To be honest, I never thought that pushing the NYSC experience into pop-cultural confines would happen, given how the purpose of NYSC has been questioned several times, with thoughts of scrapping the initiative altogether.

But I guess the reason Corper Shun, the upcoming show from Accelerate TV, would work is that it’s skewed towards the youth demographic.

And naturally so. My Youth Service year was horrible, and one of the things I instantly learned was the colloquial usage of Corper Shun, a mild, friendly jab at those serving in the mandatory NYSC program.

Like other digital platforms with “tastefully young” content, Corper Shun fits smoothly in Accelerate TV’s youthful real estate. The show itself is rolling in its own canon.

A female corp member is requesting for a letter from a presumed NYSC official and she’s rudely spoken to. And another male corper can be heard saying, “What we came here to do is Youth Service and not prison service.”

Following the story of five corp members navigating the not-so-blissful world of serving their father land, Corper Shun parades a familiar ensemble of Chiagoziem Nwakanma (This Is It, Life 101) and Efa Iwara (MTV Shuga). And I’m looking forward to seeing what the show has to offer.
