A sublime strike by Kelechi Iheanacho helped Gernot Rohr secure a victory in his first game as Super Eagles manager at the Nest of Champions stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The German chose a strong starting 11 in his first game against Tanzania in Group G of 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification round.
A wonderful strike in the 79th minute by Kelechi Iheanacho was all Nigeria needed to secure all three points in a game the Super Eagles could have won by four or five goals.
However, the game was more of a formality as the Super Eagles would not be participating in next year’s AFCON holding in Gabon.
Nigeria finished with 5 points in the Group comprising of Egypt and Tanzania, with the Egyptians claiming top spot with 10 points.
