Nigerians can now claim to have heard ‘both sides of the story’ after popular Twitter user, Dr. Funmilayo posted a series of statements on his handle explaining his version of events.

On Monday, in a series of tweets, another user, Bola Aseyan had accused the Twitter Influencer of raping and emotionally abusing her in their relationship. ‘Twitter FBI’ established that they might have known each other and previously had a cordial relationship.

Interaction over tweets between both parties on the timeline and pictures that showed Bola had been in the Funmilayo residence were unearthed. Thus, adding credence to the story and establishing that Bola had indeed been in the residence of Dr. Funmilayo in the United Kingdom.

Nigerians awaited the response of Funmilayo to the allegations all day, but in the meantime, two Twitter users made claims that the supposed victim was a callous individual known for spinning webs of lie and seeking attention. One of the accounts also affirmed that Bola was not a doctor in the United Kingdom.

Late Tuesday, Nigerians were finally sated when Dr. Funmilayo dropped a 3-part response typed on a note pad detailing his own account of what happened.

He said Bola was not a resident in the United Kingdom, corroborating claims by the aforementioned Twitter users. He also stated that Bola had insisted on coming to the UK to see him despite their faulty relationship and had been denied a visa once, to which he claimed to have conceded and paid for her travel expenses.

According to Dr. Funmilayo’s account, she came to live with him and they eventually had sex, both under the heavy influence of alcohol and she had tried to manipulate the occurrence to say that he had assaulted her, even though he pointed out that it was not possible because they were both drunk. He also said they had consensual sex much later. 

Furthermore, he stated that Bola was proven to be so dirty and during her stay, she messed up the walls and left piles of clothes on the floor, while confirming also that she kept taking pictures of herself in his house and posting it on ‘the gram.’ The Influencer added that she had left his house after a while without any pressure from him, and his call to find out her reason(s) for doing so was what she coined as “people begging her not to speak” in her statement of accusation.

Dr. Funmilayo concluded by saying that he would take legal actions against her based on what he described as defamation of his character. 

Nigerians had a lot to say about the unfolding events with many poking fun at Bola. Some mocked her for travelling from Nigeria all the way to the United Kingdom “just for sexual intercourse.”

Some posited that Bola had tried to lure Funmilayo by making determined plans to get to the United Kingdom and when things didn’t go as planned, she resulted to defaming his character.

Bola has released a statement as well, stating that she would be taking legal actions on the case, adding that she has involved the police.

Dr Funmilayo Ogunsanya, I have filed my charges and the police are with me at the moment. I have no further say in this as I’ve been advised to not say anything anymore or post any evidence on this issue online. Let the truth prevail.
