After unleashing an unstoppable effort to double Sporting Lisbon’s lead against Gil Vicente, Nani broke down in tears.
It was one of the most awkward sights ever seen in modern day football.
The winger, who is on loan from Manchester United, was so overcome with emotion, that he had to be comforted by team-mates.
So why he did cry?
“It was a goal like any other,” he told reporters. “I received the ball, saw the goal, shot and I was lucky.”
“I thought about myself and everything that I have gone through. It’s personal stuff, that nobody knows about.”
Nani was born in Cape Verde and endured a tough upbringing in Lisbon, before he eventually made his breakthrough playing football.
Sporting Lisbon currently sit in third place in the Portugal first division with 47 points.
