A lot of Nigerian celebrities and showbiz personalities have been quite vocal politically, expressing their thoughts as regards the conduct of free and fair elections while some even campaigned overtly for candidates of their choice.
Sadly, while every other Nigerian damned the elements to participate in the general elections yesterday (and today), some celebrities decided to attend to other activities.
Most of them were out of town to headline concerts in other parts of the world while some others decided to lie low and keep calm in their various homes. We bring you a list of celebrities that did not participate in the elections.
– Peter and Paul Okoye left Nigeria on Thursday night for London, United Kingdom for the Dance Afrique concert, Flavour left the country too for the same destination.
– Pop stars Davido and Wizkid weren’t in the country either.
Davido was in Kenya while Wizkid was in err.. Dubai.
– Ruggedman: The veteran rapper embarked on a tour of China 2 weeks ago where’s he’s been performing in a couple of cities in China, he is yet to return.
– Funke Akindele: She’s a co-host of the Dance Afrique concert in London, so she joined Flavour and Psquare in London. DJ Cuppy: The pretty female disc jockey, DJ Cuppy is in Kenya, she jetted out of Nigeria a day before the elections for her performance at the Pan African Finale of the Airtel/Trace music star.
Lami Phillips: The singe revealed Friday night that she will be staying in bed all through Saturday and that’s exactly what she did.
Actors Ivie Okujaiye, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Linda Ejiofor were busy on set and likewise Comedian AY.
Mavins: None of the Mavin crew members went out to vote…we are not sure what they were up to at the weekend but we know for sure that they didn’t share photos of them at any of the polling booths.Tiwa Savage: The Mavin queen was in London for Simi Osomo’s baby shower.
Toke Makinwa: The media personality was outta the country.
Rapper, Olamide was busy in the studio making music.
Actress Belinda Effah was home but nice enough to wish Nigerians “Happy Elections Day, vote not fight.” Fair enough.
Comedians Bovi and Basketmouth were in South Africa.
Actress, Susan Peters and movie director, Elvis Chucks are on vacation overseas. We would also love to assume that actresses, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson, Empress Njamah, Annie Idibia, as well as singers, Omawumi and Waje stayed at home as nothing on their social media pages indicated otherwise.
