Nyako’s reinstatement: S’Court fixes ruling for Dec. 16

The validity of the impeachment of former governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) will be put to bed as the Supreme Court has fixed December 16, 2016 to deliver judgment to Nyako’s appeal.

Nyako who was removed by wants to be reinstated as governor to complete his tenure after his impeachment was quashed by the Court of Appeal.

The date was fixed on Thursday by the apex court after counsel to both parties in the appeal adopted their respective briefs of arguments for and against the appeal.

Nyako’s counsel Mr. Uchema Nwokedi (SAN) argued that the decision of the Court of Appeal be upheld as the lawmakers did not follow the law when they impeached his client. Counsel for the respondents asked the court to dismiss the appeal for lacking in merit.

Nwokedi said reinstating Nyako as governor was the only way to compensate him for the injustice done to him.
