Buruji Kashamu, chairman of organisation and Mobilisation committee of the People’s Democratic Party in South West, has expressed his intention to press criminal charges against former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, for launching his autobiography titled ‘My watch’.
Kashamu had petitioned a court over the release of the book, which on Friday ruled that Obasanjo should refrain from launching the publication, which had details of his alleged involvement in drug trafficiking in the United States.
The erstwhile Head of state would, however, shun the court injunction, ny going ahead to proceed with the launching, which took place at Ikoyi club, Lagos.
In a press statement signed by Kashamu on Tuesday, December 9, he revealed that he would take Obasanjo and other people who assisted him in the launch of his autobiography, which he described as contempt of court.
According to him, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s action has again confirmed his knack for lawlessness and arbitrariness.
Prince Kashamu said: “It beats my imagination that this man can be sermonising about the good governance when he shamelessly advertises all the elements of bad governance. In short, he is bad governance personified.”
“He is the worst advertisement for the product he is trying to advertise – good governance. He has shown that he does not have respect for the judiciary, and that he is above the law.”
“But I ask my lawyers to press criminal contempt charges against him and all those who assisted him in flouting the orders of the court. I will ensure that they are all dragged before the court, and particularly, Obasanjo, without his cap, to show why he should not punished for criminal contempt.”
He added: “By his unruly conduct, Chief Obasanjo has shown for the umpteenth time that he is indecent and uncivilised. Certainly, President Goodluck Jonathan and his predecessor, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and others he criticised in the controversial book, which I am reliably informed he did not write, are made of a sterner stuff than him. They are true democrats and gentlemen to the core.”

This salary and security vote and so many constitution allowances for president are too much even d legislature allowances and salary too . U can see them now jumping to other parties cos of money . We are in problem. This is why I support buhari to be d next president to correct all mistakes made by d military which obj would have done To me if no one in nigeria can prosecute obj in court for corruption and subatanciate what he stole. Every body with such notion should keep quite I believe all nigerians are against obj ibecause of his personal struggle wealth He has big farm schools to university level and in business. Some of all these politicians only relie on money from politics . . Very difficult to catch a yoruba man stealing. Yoruba culture forbid that. But few pdp yorubas stealling now is due to what is going on in pdp they saw so they too are doing like them . I don’t know much about young yoruba men below 50yrs of nowadays. No one can predict them . There is an area in nigeria that believe been in government is to steal all the money in till of d government as their wright . U know them ur self. Kashamu don’t let outside use u and fayose which u will regret at last to ur own people. This is bad. We need peace in south west. U can never compare south west with others we want peace. This is d Reason I can never belong to any political party or join politics in nigeria again . God forbid I kept off after annulment of Mko abiola election. I was in jos. All I saw I don’t belong to u people. Nigeria politician has no heaven. Money and power belongs to God. Political money and power is evil and no heaven for it only punishment from God they should expect later. Better we all change and be like jesus
